Thursday Night Competition Final Results

The very well supported Thursday Night Competition recently finished for the year and the winner of the season long Jimmy Harvey Cup 2009 has been confirmed as Peter Smith (the current Vice Captain). The competition was fiercely contested and went right to the wire with the final result only confirmed on the last evening of the season.

Anthony Sinclair takes Gold at Deaflympics

Congratulations go to Anthony Sinclair (our Captain Robert's son), who has just scooped the gold medal at this year's Deaflympics taking place in Taiwan. Anthony is taking part in the Tennis and won his medal in the mixed doubles partnering Catherine Graham. They beat the Italian team who have had a stranglehold on this medal since 1989

Thursday Night Grand Finale - Thursday 17th September 09

In a tense end to the season, the current cup holder, Michael Mooney and the vice Captain, Peter Smith are separated by a single point with one week remaining. The VC has the advantage but it's anyone's guess how who will take the final honours.
As usual there will be 'a cornucopia of prizes' for all players on the scoreboard and for those not lucky enough to make it this year - but who have taken part. Prizegiving is expected to take place around 8pm so come on down and enjoy the craic.

Wednesday Boys Annual Charity Competition
13th September 2009

The Club's Wednesday Boys have held their annual Charity Competition this year in support of REACH. The sum of over £300 was raised. Further details on REACH may be found at reach.org.uk
The Charity Shield trophy association with the competition was won by David McShane, the putting competition was won by Gordon McIlroy with Gordon Walker in second place. Also presented was the Summer League Cup which was won by Job Palmer closely followed, in the three way tie, by Gerry Murray, Norman Kennedy and Mervyn Menown.
Following the High Tea entertainment was provided by Club President Bill Eakin, David Lindop, David McShane and Jim Wilson.

History The club was founded in 1896 by its first patron, Fredrick Hamilton Temple Blackwood, Marquis of Dufferin and Ava and saw its first competition on the 16th of June that year. From the very start Helen's Bay has welcomed both men and women with the first competition for Ladies being played on July 14th, 1897. From these beginnings, more than 100 years ago, the club has been enjoyed by thousands of members and visitors alike for its challenging course, welcoming atmosphere and wonderful views over Belfast Lough.To read more about the Club's history click
